ROTARY E CLUB OF LULU ISLAND  MEETING SEPTEMBER 11th, 2013

WELCOME!

ROTARY MOMENT

Paul Harris:

“Who would be interested in a garden containing flowers of one species or one color only? Variety has been truly said to be the spice of life. Sameness is monotonous, depressing”.

“Rotary brings men and women differing in social status, religious beliefs and nationality together in order that they may more intelligible to each other and therefore more sympathetic and friendly”.

LULU ISLAND MOMENT

Did you know that at one time early on off Garry Point in Steveston, a large lantern was tied near the top of an old tree to guide vessels into Steveston’s  harbour. In time a jerry-built lighthouse replaced the lantern in a tree as the local guide to navigation. It was later dismantled, by which time the federal government had positioned a lightship at the mouth of the river.
