ROTARY E CLUB OF LULU ISLAND  MEETING AUGUST 7th, 2013

WELCOME!

INSPIRATIONAL MOMENTS

“It has been the way of Rotary to focus though upon matters in which members are in agreement, rather than upon matters in which they are in disagreement”.

“But primitive man had enemies as well as imaginary, and they were not subject to priestly sorceries”.

“ If there ever was a militant religion, it was that of early New England”.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Community Living BBQ at King George Park is on Thursday August 15 from 4-6pm. It would be great if some of us could attend and support this group.

The Club will be supporting Senior’s in the community on Sunday, August 25 at the Britannia Apartments at 12911 Railway Avenue (the south end of Railway)  from 3-6pm.  We are doing the cooking and serving for them. All help is appreciated! Let Bill know. Thanks.

LULU ISLAND MOMENT

A number of letters patent have been issued which have defined Richmond as a municipality. In 1979 Richmond was incorporated as “The Corporation of Richmond”. The same year as Surrey and Delta. In 1885 the first letters were revoked and Richmond was renamed “The Corporation of the Township of Richmond”. Then one hundred and five years later, 1990 marked the issuing of new letters patent reincorporating Richmond as the “City Of Richmond”. An action that was celebrated as a coming of age for the municipality.
